This is my portrait of Marie Curie, such a pioneer and inspiring woman. She was born and grew up in Poland, at this time a part of Russia. As Women weren't allowed to study there she followed her sister and moved to Paris to study at the Sorbonne. In December of 1897 she started her research on radioactivity. She was the first woman ever who won the Nobel Prize. She's been also the first woman teaching at Académies des Sciences. (Sadly enough after her beloved husband Pierre Curie died by accident. It was his chair she took over.) She’s been the first female member of Académie des Médicine and later she led the Radium Institute in Paris. ..Unfortunately her researches and curie-ousity about Radium led to a death of aplastic anemia in the age of 66, what a sacrifice for humanity. But even after her death she kept being a pioneer as she was the first woman buried at the Paris Phanteon to honor her scientific achievements.
